The story kicks off on a Monday morning in September, 1979. I was one of a very few women working as a computer systems analyst in this automotive company. On the weekend just passed, my latest system creation was launched, humming along beautifully, working like it was planned. A hard-wrought victory, a quiet aka perfect launch, and on to the next creation… or so I thought.

There was, however, a problem. A big, hairy problem. An I-cannot-believe-this-is-happening, my baby is NOT ugly, “you’ve got to be kdding me” kind of problem.

My perfect computer system completely shut down an entire manufacturing engineering function – the main group of users of that perfect system.

And so began the tale of: “The Fishbowl and 16 Angry Men.”
